Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Making Strides Fall Fundraising challenge! The response was amazing and collectively, we raised over 4 million dollars to fight breast cancer during the challenge period. This achievement is remarkable, and truly makes a difference in the lives of women everywhere. The more dollars we raise together, the more the American Cancer Society can fund breast cancer research and services.

  1. PROMOTION DESCRIPTION: The American Cancer Society Making Strides Fall Challenge ("Contest") is an online Contest that begins on 9/26/12 at 12:00:00 AM (PST) and ends on 10/6/12 at 11:59:59 PM (PST) (“Challenge Period”). In order to participate in the Contest, you must be an American Cancer Society (“ACS”) Making Strides Against Breast Cancer participant who is registered for a Making Strides 2012 fall event between 9/22/12 and 11/3/12; are a legal resident of the fifty (50) United States and District of Columbia; and are 18 years of age or older.

  2. HOW TO PARTICIPATE: If you are not yet registered for a Making Strides event, go to www.makingstrideswalk.org (“Website”) and follow the directions to complete the online registration and to sign up for an event. Once registered for an event, you are automatically eligible to participate and will then raise money through online donations in an effort to raise the largest sum of money for ACS Making Strides Against Breast Cancer during the Challenge Period. ACS or its designee will maintain the total funds raised by each participant during the Challenge Period. Fundraising submissions that do not comply with the donation requirements contained on the Website will be considered void. All entry materials become the property of the American Cancer Society, Inc. (“Sponsor”) and will not be returned. Sponsor is not responsible for any change of email address, mailing address and/or phone number of entrants.

  3. ELIGIBILITY: Open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older; and are an American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer participant who is registered for a Making Strides fall 2012 event between 9/22/12 and 11/3/12. Employees of American Cancer Society, Inc., its divisions, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies (the “Released Parties”) and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible to participate. Void where prohibited.

  4. WINNER DETERMINATION: Three (3) Grand Prize winners will be determined on or about 10/8/12 by Sponsor or its designee, the judges in the Contest, whose decisions are final and binding. The Challenge participants who log the first - third largest sums of fundraising dollars during the Challenge Period will be declared the Grand Prize winners subject to verification. In the event of a tie, the winner will be the participant with the highest number of donors during the Challenge Period. Winners will be notified by phone, email and/or mail at Sponsor’s discretion.

  5. PRIZE AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE (ARV): Three (3) Grand Prizes An iPad 2® (32GB) with Wi-Fi (ARV $599 ea.). Total ARV of all prizes $1,797. Unclaimed prizes will not be awarded. All applicable federal, state, and local taxes on prize are the sole responsibility of the prize winner. Limit one (1) prize per person.

  6. GENERAL: Grand Prize winners will be required to sign and return a notarized Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability Release and, where permitted by law, Publicity Release within ten (10) days after first notification attempt. If prize notification or prize is returned as non-deliverable, prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected in accordance with these Official Rules. No correspondence will be acknowledged. No cash equivalents, substitutions or transfer of prize permitted except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Subject to all federal, state and local laws/regulations. The Released Parties will not have any liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from acceptance, possession, use and/or misuse of any prize or participation in the Contest. Acceptance of a prize shall be construed as and signify the winner’s agreement and consent that Sponsor may use the winner’s name, voice, likeness and/or prize information, without limitation, for promotional purposes without further consideration, review, approval or payment, where allowed by law. Winner acknowledges that neither Sponsor nor its agents have made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize, including, but not limited to, its quality, mechanical condition or fitness for a particular purpose. Any and all warranties and/or guarantees on a prize, if any, are subject to the manufacturers’ terms therefore and winner agrees to look solely to such manufacturers for any such warranty and/or guarantee. By participating in this Contest, participants agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding in all respects. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Contest or in the announcement of the prize.

  7. LIMITATIONS AND RELEASES: Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, misdirected or illegible registrations nor for electronic transmission errors resulting in omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations or transmission, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of registration materials, or for technical, network, telephone equipment, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions or limitations of any kind, or inaccurate transmissions of or failure to receive registration information by Sponsor or presenter on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or any combination thereof. If for any reason this Contest is not capable of running as planned, including but not limited to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the registration process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. In the event of cancellation of the Contest, winners will be selected using the judging criteria herein from among all eligible entries received prior to cancellation provided a sufficient number of entries have been received. Caution: Any attempt by an individual to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such individual to the fullest extent of the law.
