Some cancers, including breast cancer, can be found and treated early - before they have a chance to grow and spread. An accurate diagnosis is critical, and doctors rely on state-of-the-art medical tests provided by diagnostic testing companies to aid in diagnosing or detecting diseases, measuring the progress or recovery, and confirming that an individual is free from a disease.
It's not difficult to detect why Quest Diagnostics, the world's leading provider of diagnostic testing services, is also a leader in supporting the American Cancer Society's efforts to save lives from cancer.
"We've seen firsthand the impact of cancer research on improving testing and early detection opportunities," says Laure Park, Vice President, Communications and Investor Relations and Corporate Citizenship Officer. "But early detection is just a start. Together with the American Cancer Society, we're committed to fighting and winning the battle against cancer and helping to improve the quality of life for the nearly 12 million people living with cancer in the United States."
Quest Diagnostics first teamed up with the Society from 2003-2007, when its employees selected the organization as their national charity. Since then, Quest Diagnostics employees across the country have teamed up to raise funds and awareness to fight back against cancer by participating in American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer´┐? and Relay For Life´┐? fundraising events, as well as supporting the Society’s latest nationwide research study, Cancer Prevention Study-3. Quest Diagnostics is also a national sponsor of the Society’s Choose You´┐? movement that inspires women to put their health first and make health lifestyle choices to stay well and help prevent cancer, specifically in support of the "Get Regular Health Checks" call to action. Since 2003, Quest Diagnostics employees have raised more than $4 million to support the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving work.
This year, Quest employees have again selected the Society as their national charity and have pledged to support Making Strides Against Breast Cancer as a member of the National Partners Program through 2013. Through a national network of active and committed employee leaders championing local involvement in Making Strides events, Quest Diagnostics employees have formed more than 50 teams to raise funds and walk in events across the country. While employee teams participate in company-wide Making Strides fundraising events and local events like bake sales, raffles, team competitions, and other activities, the company has found that the most successful fundraising efforts stem from passionate individuals who reach out to their personal networks to raise funds to fight breast cancer.
"Our employees selected the American Cancer Society as the charity they want to support, and we are proud to join them in supporting this cause," says Laure Park.
Whether it's helping find cancer early through providing accurate diagnostic tests or supporting the American Cancer Society in helping people stay well and get well, finding cures, and bringing employees and communities together to fight back against cancer through Making Strides and other efforts, Quest Diagnostics is helping to save lives from cancer.
