Welcome

Foot Locker, Inc.

Foot Locker, Inc.Since 2002, Foot Locker, Inc. has been a proud supporter of the American Cancer Society, working together to help end breast cancer forever. In 2004, the company became a flagship sponsor of a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® walk in New York City. Four years later, the company became part of the National Partners Program (formerly the National Team Program), with hundreds of Foot Locker, Lady Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, Footaction, Champs Sports, Team Edition, and CCS associates walking in six states.

Beyond the walks, associates have organized bake sales, jewelry sales, silent auctions, sample sales, and raffles. Additionally, Lady Foot Locker's e-commerce site and nationwide fleet of stores offer customers exclusive merchandise inspired by the pink ribbon, with a portion of the sales donated to the Society. Through its combined fundraising efforts, Foot Locker, Inc. has raised nearly $2.4 million since 2002. The Company has also created a network of support for associates personally affected by the disease, as well as for their friends and family members.

Evelyn Ross, vice president of human resources for Foot Locker/Lady Foot Locker/Kids Foot Locker/Footaction, has been an active supporter of the company's Making Strides efforts. In 2010, her participation in the event became truly personal when she joined the nearly one in two women newly diagnosed with breast cancer who turn to the American Cancer Society for information and support. "All at once, you find yourself faced with so many decisions to make," Ross says. "What kind of treatment should I go with? Who should be my breast surgeon [or] oncologist?"

Ross opted for a treatment plan that included Herceptin, a drug whose discovery and development the American Cancer Society helped to fund. Today, she is adamant about the value of early detection for breast cancer and the importance of access to mammograms. "There are all too many women out there who don't have [employee] benefits and don't realize they can still get a mammogram," Ross says. But she also sees fighting for that access as part of the "tireless work" of the American Cancer Society. "They are trying to make a difference," she says, "so that we can get to do amazing things [and] be given the most important gift of all the gift of life."
